Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) has over 1,100 Doctors, 1,800 specialists, 695 pharmacies, 200 OB/GYNs, 330 behavioral health providers, 30 major hospitals, and 318 vision doctors in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

IEHP's provider network is subject to ongoing changes. Also, some hospitals and other providers do not provide one or more of the services that may be covered under your plan contract and that you or your family member might need. Some of these excluded services might be family planning; contraceptive services (such as emergency contraception). Plus, other services may be excluded like sterilization, (i.e., tubal ligation at labor and delivery. Infertility treatments or abortion may also be excluded.

How does IEHP confirm your Doctor and hospital facts?
Name and Gender
The provider name and gender are taken from new provider applications. These facts are reviewed, confirmed and updated by IEHP every three (3) years or sooner if a change is needed.
The doctor, clinical staff, or a member of the office staff may speak the language listed in the search results. Those who offer language services proved they could meet the threshold language. They did so at the time they entered the IEHP network. This fact is reviewed, confirmed, and updated every three (3) years. This may be done sooner if a change is reported.
Specialty and Board Certification
- Specialty - The area of medicine in which your Doctor has been trained. For more details, please go to www.abms.org and click on the Consumers section on the page. The specialty is found in provider applications. IEHP confirms this information with the American Board of Medical Specialties or the School of Medicine. IEHP confirms that your provider finished training. This fact is reviewed, confirmed, and updated by IEHP every three (3) years. This may be done sooner if a change is reported.
- Board Certified - This shows a Doctor’s knowledge and skills in a certain area of medical practice. These facts are taken from each Doctor’s application. They are reviewed, verified, and updated by IEHP every three (3) years. This may be done sooner if a change is reported. This is where the Doctor treats patients. These details are taken from the new provider applications, office visits, or over the phone. They are reviewed, confirmed and updated by IEHP every six (6) months. This may be done sooner if a change is reported.
Accepting New Members
This shows if a Doctor is accepting new Members. Providers accept new Members unless they have asked on specific criteria to close their practice. Or, they may have reached limits for the number of Members who can enroll. PCP status is reviewed, confirmed, and updated as it changes.
IPA/Medical Group Affiliations
Your Doctor belongs to a medical group, otherwise referred to as an IPA. This is listed in the search results page. It is also reported by the medical group. The details are reviewed, confirmed, and updated two (2) times a year. This may be done sooner if a change is reported.
These are hospitals to which the Doctor may send Members when they have emergencies. Or, Members may be sent there for other health issues that are not emergencies. These details are obtained from new provider applications. They are reviewed, confirmed, and updated two (2) times a year. It may be done sooner if a changed is needed.
This means the facility conforms to certain U.S. service quality standards. The facility also is focused on delivering the most favorable results. The facility must be kept up by an IEHP recognized body. Some of these include The Joint Commission and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). If the hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission, IEHP uses the “Quality Check.” This can be found on the website: www.jointcommission.org. IEHP confirms if a hospital is accredited by the Osteopathic Accreditation (AOA). IEHP does this by using the AOA website osteopathic.org. IEHP confirms if hospitals are in good standing with the state and federal regulatory bodies. It also checks that hospitals are reviewed by an accrediting body. IEHP also conducts a site visit if there is no accreditation status. It goes through this status check at least every three (3) years. IEHP may do it sooner if a change is needed.

The location is where the doctor provides medical or surgical services. This fact is received from hospital forms. It is reviewed, confirmed, and updated by IEHP every three (3) years. This may be done sooner if a change is reported. The hospital directory provides the following: hospital name; address; phone number; website and accreditation information.
